The Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Trade Development Council Jointly Formed a Delegation to Southeast Asia for Promoting Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

From July 13th to 20th, a business delegation consisting of more than 40 enterprises of Guangdong and Hong Kong headed for Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and worked together to promote the construction of “the Belt and Road” and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Guangdong and Hong Kong jointly hosted three Business Symposiums in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Hanoi, Mr. Lin Shaochun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Executive Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, and Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, attended relevant events in Thailand and Vietnam respectively.

Mr. Lin Shaochun indicated that Guangdong will facilitate the construction of "the Belt and Road" and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area based on the national strategies, and actively expand trade and investment cooperation with countries along "the Belt And Road". Next, with a focus on strengthening infrastructure and industrial parks construction, Guangdong will constantly expand the depth and breadth of cooperation, build a batch of significant carriers for capacity cooperation and advance "the Belt and Road" demonstration projects.

During the visit, Mr. Lin Shaochun awarded the nameplate to Guangdong Economic and Trade Office Southeast Asia, which became the third overseas economic and trade office directly accredited by People's Government of Guangdong Province, following Europe and North America. This Office aims at providing a platform of higher level and wider field for carrying out economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and Southeast Asia.

On July 1st, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and National Development and Reform Commission signed the Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation in the Development of Bay Area. Two weeks later, the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Trade Development Council jointly formed a delegation headed for Southeast Asia to promote the Greater Bay Area. The delegation included manufacturing enterprises of Guangdong in the fields of electronics, electrical appliances, machinery, lighting, biology, medicine, etc. and finance, tax administration, law and other professional service institutions in Hong Kong, a total of more than 60 people, and conducted docking negotiations with over 300 local enterprises. On July 27th, People's Government of Guangdong Province and Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will together hold the 2017 Business Fair for Hong Kong-Guangdong Economic, Technology and Trade Cooperation in Hong Kong, to mainly discuss the construction of  “the Belt and Road” and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with concerted effort.
