2018 China (Guangdong) - US Investment Conference Held in Guangzhou Ma Xingrui Attended and Delivered a Keynote Speech

  On May 17, 2018 China (Guangdong) - US Investment Conference was held in Guangzhou. Governor Ma Xingrui attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech.     

  Entrusted by Provincial Secretary Li Xi, Ma Xingrui expressed his welcome to the guests on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government in his speech. Ma Xingrui pointed out that in recent years, trade and investment cooperation between Guangdong and the United States has maintained a good momentum of development. Especially with the joint efforts of both sides, the first China (Guangdong) - US Investment Conference in 2017 has achieved fruitful results. A number of contracted projects have achieved good development, which has effectively promoted mutual investment and deepened the bilactral trade. Ma Xingrui stressed that President Xi Jinping announced at the 2018 annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia the four major measures for China's expansion of opening up, and declared to the world that China's open door will not be closed, and will only be widen. At present, Guangdong is promoting the re-liberation of ideas, reform and opening up, and striving to build Guangdong into an important window for practicing Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, showing the world an important window of China's reform and opening up, and an important window for the international community to observe China's reform and opening up, and strive to achieve the goal of "four in the forefront of the country". It is hoped that the two sides will take this investment cooperation and exchange conference as an opportunity to enhance the two-way trade and investment, deepen the cooperation in S&T innovation and finance, improve the exchange and cooperation mechanism, deepen the potential of cooperation, enhance the level of pragmatic cooperation, share good development opportunities, and jointly write a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.     

  Li Yong, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce said that the Investment Promotion Bureau will continue to promote high-quality investment cooperation between China and the United States, and play the role as a bridge to boost the growth of companies in both countries.     

  Myron Brillant, Executive Vice President of the National Chamber of Commerce in the United States, said that the great success of Guangdong's economic development has benefited from reform and opening up, and has created a good business environment for the majority of enterprises and greatly stimulated the vitality of the market. The American Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to continuing to work closely with Guangdong to provide opportunities for the business community in the United States and Guangdong Province.     

  Ma Ruisi, Chairman and President of P&G Greater China, said that P&G will continue to invest in Guangdong Province and support the government's goal of upgrading “Made in China” to “Created in China”.     

  Ma Xingrui also attended the roundtable meeting of CEOs of American leading companies and had face-to-face communication with US companies on deepening the cooperation between Guangdong and US companies, to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of US companies in Guangdong, as well as to listen to their suggestions on further optimizing government services and business environment in Guangdong.     

  The conference focused on high-end industry cooperation and linkage of innovative resources. In addition to the theme forum, the event also arranged US-China Clean Technology Summit, Smart City and Smart Travel, as well as other parallel sessions on energy conservation and environmental protection, smart manufacturing, medicine and health, and investment in the United States. Apple, ABInBev, ExxonMobil Chemical, IBM, Mars Group, Qualcomm and other US Fortune 500 companies, industry leading companies and many well-known enterprises in Guangdong participated in the conference.     

  Provincial leader Ouyang Weimin, US Consul General in Guangzhou, Bai Zhili, and Commercial Counselor of the US Embassy in China, Shao Si participated in the event.
