On March 12th, Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and Invest Selangor, the investment promotion agency of Selangor, Malaysia, jointly hosted the “Malaysia Selangor and Guangdong 'Belt and Road' Cross-border E-commerce Summit" in Guangzhou. Dato Teng Chang Khim, Senior Administrative Councilor of Selangor, Malaysia, Dato Hashan Azhauri, Executive Director of Selangor Investment Promotion Agency, and Mr. Chen Yuehua, Deputy Director-General of the Department and other representatives from government departments, business organizations and enterprises attended the summit.
The summit aimed to introduce investment and trade opportunities in Guangdong, Malaysia and even Southeast Asia under the framework of “Belt and Road” initiative, and to establish a communication and negotiation platform for enterprises and projects with investment cooperation intentions, especially those engaged in cross-border e-commerce. A number of enterprises from Malaysia and Guangdong Province had heated discussions on how Guangdong companies could go out, how to settle in Malaysia, and how to open up the Southeast Asian market. Entrepreneurs from Malaysia gave detailed answers to questions proposed by Guangdong enterprises such as the scale, main demands, price positioning, tariffs, logistics and product approval of Southeast Asian e-commerce products.
